Turbinicarpus andersonii, RH 151, San Luis del Cardero, Durango, Mexico.
This is a very attractive little Turbinicarpus, first discovered a little over 20 years ago. It's often described as one of the many subspecies of Turbinicarpus schmiedickeanus, but newer research suggests it should be recognised as a good species.
It has a handsome grey-green coloration and only one spine per areole. The flowers are light pink with a deeper pink midstripe. They flower in April-May.
The species develops a large tap root and we recommend a mineral soil. They are not more difficult than other Turbinicarpus, but can be sensitive to overwatering. They are slow growers.
10 seed per packet. The seeds germinate well under normal conditions.
