Pelecyphora aselliformis RS 550 (plante)

Pelecyphora aselliformis, RS 550, km 30, Route 57, Ventura, San Luis Potosí, Mexico.

This is a rare and endangered Mexican species. As a juvenile it grows a bit elongated, before filling out and becoming more like a ball when it reaches maturity.

The areoles are covered with tens of tiny white spines. The flowers are pink and produce a nice contrast with the white spines. The plants for sale here are not yet mature, and will likely need another year or two before they reach flowering size.

This is not an easy species to grow. It is susceptible to root rot and we recommend a mineral soil as well as a deep pot to accomodate the thick and long tap root.

Size is 2-3 cm Ø. Price is per plant.
