Astrophytum asterias cv. Super Kabuto (plant)

This is the most well known and also one of the most beautiful cultivars of Astrophytum asterias. In most aspects it resembles A. asterias but the white flecks so typical of the genus are much larger on Super Kabuto, and cover much of the plant to the point it can appear nearly white.

The flowers are yellow, but traces of red or pink can appear. The flowers, the flower color and the amount of white flecks will all vary from plant to plant.

This cultivar was originally created in Japan, and as such does not occur in nature.

A. asterias cv. Super Kabuto grows fairly slowly and is sensitive to overwatering. We therefore recommend a mineral soil to help protect against this.

The plant you receive is approximately 2-3 cm and about 3-4 years old. The photos of the smaller plants illustrate the kind of size you can expect. The amount of white flecks and patterns will vary from plant to plant. They also usually develop more white flecks with age. The flowering plants illustrate what they can look like as adults.
